New Lambton – Lambton – Kotara

NEW LAMBTON

New Lambton a residential area situated in the centre of Newcastle, providing easy access to all facilities of the Greater Newcastle and Lake Macquarie council areas. It has a small commercial sector running along Regent Street and Alma Road complete with supermarket, Banks and Building Society, Post Office and other small businesses including Butcher, Bakery, Real Estate Agencies, Solicitors, Travel Agent, Cafes and Restaurants. New Lambton Heights is home to the John Hunter Hospital and Newcastle Private Hospital together with smaller specialised facilities upon their grounds. It is home to parts of Blackbutt reserve, which provides walking tracks, picnic areas and animal enclosures. Other parks in the area include, George McGregor Park, Regent Park and Novocastrian Park, which have picnic and children’s facilities.

LAMBTON

Lambton and North Lambton are residential suburbs located around some of Newcastle’s main roads making it a convenient suburb for transport. It has a number of small parks and reserves as well as sporting facilities. Lambton Park in the centre of the surburb houses sporting facilities including Lambton Pool, Lambton Bowling Club, Tennis Courts and you can see games of cricket played on weekends during the summer sporting season. Lambton’s commercial centre runs Elder and Morehead Streets. The commercial area provides mixed business facilities including banks, building societies, doctors surgeries, cafes and specialty stores.

KOTARA

Kotara combines a commercial centre with residential living as well as a convenient recreational area. It was orignally developed with high quality housing and established as a ‘garden suburb’. Kotara is home to Blackbutt Reserve with picnic facilities, walking tracks and animal exhibits. Kotara also has a large commercial district containing two main sections:- Westfield Shopping Centre providing supermarkets and other large retail chains such us David Jones, Target, K-Mart and many clothing and specialty stores whilst the Homemakers Centre provides a number of lifestyle stores such as Domayne, Bunnings, The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi. Kotara’s shopping area is one of the largest in the Newcastle Region.
